Rainy Day at Cradle Mountain Again

We booked 2 Chalets to stay at Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village.  Each chalet had two bedrooms and accommodated 4pax at AUD3xx per night.

Our barbeque dinner
There was an electric grill in each chalet.  The 8 of us grouped together in one chalet and we had barbeque as dinner.  (Food was bought in a supermarket on the way to Cradle Mountain.)

The Chubby Possum
When we prepared the food for barbeque, a lovely Possum visited our balcony.  It waited as if it wanted to join our dinner.  Some of us fed him with breads and cucumber.  (In fact, it was recommended not to feed the wild animals.  We were naughty.  Don't follow us.)  The chubby creature stayed with us until we moved back into the chalet.

In the next morning, we drove for a few minutes to the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre.

We parked the car there and purchased the pass to enter the national park.  We bought a vehicle pass at AUD60 which could cover a maximum of 8persons and a vehicle to enter all national parks in Tasmania in 8 weeks.  It is cheaper than buying 8persons' individual pass (AUD16.5 per person).

Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain Covered by Clouds

Then, we took shuttle bus from the centre to go into the National Park of Cradle Mountain.  We took off at the 7th stop, ie. the last stop, to reach Dove Lake.  Similar to the time we visited a few years ago, the weather was rainy again.  Though a little cool, we breathed the fresh air when standing in front of the serene Dove Lake.  After walking towards the right side for a few minutes, we passed through the "cradle#365" pole.  Then, for another 10-15mins, we reached the shore with the ruined boat shed, a typical landmark for photos taking.  It was a pity that, due to the rainy weather, the mountain top was invisible as the "cradle" was covered by the cloud.

After spending about an hour there, we walked back to the bus stop.  It was grateful that the rain started only after we have boarded the shuttle bus.

Remarks備註:
1. There is an easy-level trail around the Dove Lake - Dove Lake Loop Track.  If one can spare about 2-3hours and have prepared packed lunch, it would be good to walk around the lake to enjoy the scenery.
2.  The shuttle bus operates at 10-15min interval.
3.  There is a toilet near the bus drop-off point.
